Ο Tom Hardy θα είναι ξανά στον ρόλο του Eddie Brock, η Kelly Marcel σε σενάριο και παραγωγή, σκηνοθέτης είναι ο Andy Serkis, ενώ υπάρχει η επιστροφή της Michelle Williams (Anne Weying), ο Woody Harrelson στον ρόλο του Carnage, η Naomie Harris στον ρόλο της Shriek και ο Stephen Graham (Snatch, The Irishman).
Η υπόθεση για την πρώτη ταινία ήταν η εξής: Ο Venom είναι ένας συμβιωτικός οργανισμός, ένας νοήμων εξωγήινος με μια γλοιώδη και σχεδόν υγρή μορφή. Οπως και με τους πραγματικούς συμβιωτικούς, αυτός ο οργανισμός χρειάζεται έναν ξενιστή – ο οποίος συνήθως είναι άνθρωπος – για να επιβιώσει. Υστερα απο την σύνδεση με τον ξενιστή, ο Συμβιωτικός μεταφέρει τις υπερδυνάμεις του στον ξενιστή.
