H ταινία έχει διάρκεια τελικά 154 λεπτά, κάτι που την κατατάσσει στην πρώτη θέση όσον αφορά το συγκεκριμένο κομμάτι, με δεύτερη αυτή του 1989, The Last Crusade που ήταν στα 128 λεπτά. H ταινία προβλήθηκε στις Κάννες με μια αποθέωση του Harrison Ford για 5 λεπτά, αλλά τα πρώτα σχόλια είναι μοιρασμένα, με το score στο Rotten Tomatoes να είναι ακριβώς στο 50%. However much action swirls on the surface of this kind of film, its foundations are built of reassuring nostalgia. Just hearing John Williams’ score, yet another variant on the heroics and theatrics of the original, makes anyone of a certain age feel that everything is momentarily right with the world.

H εναρκτήρια σκηνή από την ταινία θα είναι 25 λεπτά και θα δείξει τον Harrison Ford, σχεδόν στην μισή ηλικία απ’ ότι είναι, μιας και θα υποδυθεί τον Indiana Jones σε μια πιο μικρή ηλικία και ο σκηνοθέτης James Mangold αναφέρθηκε στην deepfake τεχνολογία της Lucasfilm και γενικότερα το όλο concept.
Δήλωσε στο Total Film τα εξής: “Ήταν μια απίστευτη τεχνολογία και επικεντρώθηκα στα γυρίσματα μιας 25λεπτης εναρκτήριας φαντασμαγορικής σκηνής. Ο στόχος ήταν να δώσω στο κοινό αυτό που του έλειπε τόσο πολύ. Διότι στη συνέχεια, όταν η ταινία φτάσει στο 1969, θα πρέπει να προσαρμοστούν στο πώς είναι τα πράγματα τώρα, που είναι διαφορετικά από ό,τι ήταν.”
Στην συνέχεια ανέφερε: “Είχαμε εκατοντάδες ώρες αρχειακού υλικού με τον ίδιο σε κοντινά πλάνα, ευρεία κλπ., σε κάθε είδους φωτισμό, νύχτα και μέρα. Μπορούσα να γυρίσω τον Harrison μια μέρα ως τον 80χρονο που υποδύεται έναν 35χρονο και την επόμενη το κεφάλι του να έχει ήδη αντικατασταθεί”.
Πριν καιρό είχαμε την μεγάλη έκπληξη, μιας και μετά από 4 ταινίες που σκηνοθέτησε, είχαμε την αποχώρηση του Steven Spielberg, ο οποίος δεν θα είναι πίσω από την καρέκλα αλλά μόνο σαν παραγωγός για το Indiana Jones 5 και την θέση του παίρνει ο James Mangold (Ford v. Ferrari). Ο τελευταίος μάλιστα ανέφερε πως δεν υπάρχει περίπτωση αντικατάστασης του Harrison Ford με οποιαδήποτε μορφή.

Η ταινία θα εκτυλίσσεται στο 1969 εκεί όπου ο Indiana Jones για μια ακόμα φορά θα τα βάλει με τους ναζί. Θα ξεκινάει μάλιστα από το 1944, με τον Harrison Ford σε πιο νεαρή ηλικία μέσα από την μέθοδο του de aging.
O Ford έχει αναφέρει πως είναι η τελευταία Indiana Jones ταινία που θα κάνει, ενώ πλέον έγινε επίσημο αυτό. Φυσικά, ο ηθοποιός έχει ξεπεράσει τα 80 και δεν γινόταν έτσι κι αλλιώς να συνεχίσει, ωστόσο η κυκλοφορία της ταινίας αναφέρεται ως “the highly anticipated final installment”, συνεπώς δεν υπάρχει κι επίσημα καν συζήτηση για κάτι παραπάνω. Μπορεί να υπάρχει αρκετό… ξεζούμισμα, αλλά η επίσημη γραμμή από τις Disney και Lucasfilm είναι πως το Dial of Destiny θα είναι ένα αντίο στον Indiana Jones. To επιβεβαίωσε ο ίδιος για μια ακόμη φορά στο Cinema Con, λέγοντας πως δε θα έχει συμμετοχή σε μελλοντικές σειρές ή ταινίες.
